Preparations hot up towards WEYAS convention

The Weh Youth Association of the Menchum division, North West region, Bafoussam branch under the banner of “WEYAS” are currently very busy with preparation towards the hosting of the Association’s convention in Bafoussam come November 2009. The revelation was made by the West Branch president, Jean Claude Kang after he returned from a meeting at Muea-Buea South West region last Sunday July 20, 2009.

He said the West Chapter of WEYAS is working hand-in-glove with their umbrella organization WECUDA, leaving no stone unturned as regards their objectives in hosting the convention’s cultural jamboree come November 6, 7 – 2009. He said the Muea meeting was aimed at putting in place various committees ahead that will take care of the various items.

Jean Claude Kang, revealed that, the two days event which shall showcase the culture of the Weh people of the Menchum division of the North west region of Cameroon, shall include sporting activities such as football and hand ball and a cross-country race.

He went on that cultural activities shall include various traditional dances like “Ndong” Kedam and the Keblum dance just to name a few. Among other activities, Jean Claude said, shall be a good number of musicians to give the pomp and pageantry to this cultural Bonanza.

It would be recalled that the Weh Youth Association has existed for 21 years Jean Claude Kang announced to the cross-section of the members to a thunderous applause, that, even though the convention is coming to Bafoussam for its first time, he will do everything possible to make it have a resounding success, and the best it deserves. He said means are being put in place to see the event have wider media coverage. A committee shall be put in place to that regard.
